Will a G22 mag fit in a G17, yes. Will it work. No. -
i have a G35 (same as G22) and my friend has a G17.. yes, the magazines are the same "size" but the feed lips for the G22 (and G35) are for .40 S/W... IIRC, loading 9mm into a G22 magazine is impossible..the bullets just slip through and dont "stay" due to the wider feed lips..Originally posted by CowtownBallinAnd if so, is there any added capacity benefit? I do know the frames will hold either magazine, and will lock them into place.. G17 magazine into a G22/G35 frame and vice versa.. just an issue of feed lips..Comment

They are both full sized frames (not compact) so the magazine length is the same. Assuming that you are not limited to 10 rounds, the G22 (.40) mag would fit in the G17 (9mm) but would not hold any additional rounds of 9mm compared to the G17 mag, and also would not work properly as the rounds would slip past the feed lips. Aside from the super long 30/33 round magazine, the G17 already has the largest mag for its frame size. If you had a G19 (9mm compact frame) you could use a G17 mag and it holds a few more rounds. You could also add a "plus 3" base plate to your G17 mag and add a few that way. Again this is assuming that you already possess standard capacity magazines and are not using 10 rounders.Originally posted by CowtownBallindo GLOCK 22 mags fit GLOCK 17 models? G22 mags will absolutely hold more of 9mm than .40 SW. Problem is keeping them in.

Yes it will work, and it "may" feed, depending on how many you stuff in there. I use 9mm in my g23 mags (for my conversion) and they've worked flawlessly (until you try to put in the 13th round or so, it just won't sit due to all the pressure). I see no potential benefit from this unless you bend the lips (like you can on the xd)Comment

It can and does work. Depends upon how wide the feed lips are. I've only tried three (10rd) 23 mags in a 19, but they all worked. All were loaded to 14 rounds and fed and functioned just fine, but I didn't check the width with calipers. IIRC there is an overlap in the acceptable tolerances between the .40 and 9mm mags.If it was a snake, it would have bit me.
