RUGER SR1911

So my brother just told me he bought a new Ruger SR 1911. He is fairly new to firearms but has owned pistols before. I am not new to firearms but I am not too familiar with the 1911 type pistols. I told he he should of waited and done some research. He said he was only out looking but, the 1911 caught his eye. The sale person said it was a good deal and they don't last long(they all say that). He paid $699+tax and DROS. From the research I have done so far they seem like well built 1911s but again I have very limited experiance with them. How would this compare to a 1911 around the same price range? Did he over pay for it? Does anyone have experience with this pistol? All advice is welcomed and appreciated.

Lets see, they retail for anywhere from $750 to $800.

Paying that price, especially out here in Kalifornia; not too shaby.

For the price they are great. In the grand scheme of things though, they aren't anything special.

From what I hear and read, it's a POS. I'll gladly take it off his hands and save him the grief and ridicule he'll surely be getting once seen in public with that thing. Do what is right and convince him to sell it to me.
