Why didn't I know of this when my defense budget was swelling?

Sounds like a decent price to me.

I should have asked more for mine! I sold my no dash 4" for $300. I wish I still had it, but I'd never pay $600 for one.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Its slightly high, but you won't get hurt, and you could wait a long time to find another one for that price.

The 4" barrels are more popular, but the 6" is actually easier to shoot and be accurate with. They are bomb proof and have great triggers too.

I hope you bought it already.

I'd do it, 600 for a six inch pre lock, yup! As long as its not beat up too bad.

S&W now makes most, if not all, of their revolvers with an internal lock. When you see a revolver with a small hole just above the cylinder release, that's where the key is inserted. It stops the mechanism from moving so it cannot be fired unless unlocked. Most everyone that has one has NEVER locked it so it's something that is pretty lame. They prolly can't even find the key. Plus it messes up the looks of a fine revolver.

S&W's laywers convinced someone that this was a good thing to do....perhaps to help prevent lawsuits. Anyway, the pre-locks are normally a little more desirable and command a bit more cash....especially in CA since they are NOT, nor will they ever be on the list.

I just got a 686-1 4" a couple if weeks ago for mid $500.. Used alot, redone by a gunsmith. I didn't care about the looks cause its a dash-1 and they are bullet proof...timing and lock up to factory specs.

                              Mechanically it's perclfect cake
