    CA Gun Roster Question

I am planning to buy a Sig 228 - it's still on the CA approved roster until 3/13

If Sig Sauer does not renew the certification (no reason to since it is a discontinued model), then I can not buy it from any gun dealer in/out of CA....only PPT from a person who owns one in CA???

    Thanks

    First off, welcome to Calguns!!!

You are correct, or you could get one via Single Shot Exemption. But, P228s always seem to come on the Calguns market. You shouldn't have trouble tracking one down.

Sig just released the M11 (military designation for a P228) so worst case scenario, you could SSE one like SA227driver said.

        Thanks

I saw the model. It is just a 229 without the rails renamed 228?? I just bought a 229 Enhanced Elite - CA Model. Kind ticked off when I saw what CA regulations required. I don't mind the magazine discounet & LBI. However, etched with a big arrow and "loaded when up" next to the LBI..spoils the look of the gun. Retarded CA regs !!

The original P228 is the superior platform that the P229 is based off of...

I was just checking out the M11 on the Sig website. This state blows!

Never fired a 228 or held one before. Will own one about 3 weeks from now and can compare the 229 9mm vs 228.

From what I read and comments , If you like Sigs consider a 228 is a must have. I like the size of the platform..fits my hand very well.

OP- where are you ordering from? I'm kicking around the idea of getting one myself. Looking for a good price.

I agree with JKODY. The M-11 is not on the CA approved list even if you wanted to buy it. Also, why would anyone waste the time & money for SSE...nothhing special ..all marketing hype.

Did not order from anyone. Bought this Private Party - out of state. Gunsamerica/Gunbroker has them listed..mostly police trade-ins. Some look very rough.

So, at least until March, your favorite FFL can legally transfer that 228 to you.

If Sig chooses not to continue paying the $200 annual fee, then interstate sales to non-Roster-exempt people will need the SSE route, or CA-resident PPT will have to suffice.

                      Enjoy your new gun.

Is this ugly Loaded Chamber Indicator normal for other new CA guns?? Have a snap cap in barrel

Horrible, just horrible. Reminds me of the authorities of post Renaissance Europe who went about desecrating major pieces of art by covering parts they deemed inappropriate. A Sig is art, California just disgusts me.
