30 Day Handgun Wait & PPT

Hi everybody,

I recently purchased a Ruger SR22 (.22LR) handgun on 10/30/12 from Reed's and picked up on 11/13/12. I've been searching for months for a Glock 19 RTF 2 and I found one tonight (I got it! Missed the first one last week from the same seller). Can someone who is more familiar with the laws clarify for me if I have to wait till 11/30/12 to do the transfer or can I do it sooner since it is a PPT for a new gun? Buying from a store, you have to wait 30 days. Buying from a person and their personal collection, no 30 day wait.

The Mule is right. You dont have to wait. That only applies to purchasing from a store, not a private person selling to you.

Thank you for the prompt help! I've cleared out the confusion with the seller and am doing a PPT tomorrow morning. Man, the months of searching late night are finally going to be over! I can't wait for my new Glock 19 RTF 2 (Straight Slide) to meet it's bigger sized brother, my Glock 17 RTF 2 (Curved Gills). I am looking add a Glock 23 RTF 2 to the family if anybody has one or finds one (Goodluck with the hunt cause your gonna need it!). Thanks again guys!

is the 30 day from the day of purchase.. or the day of pick up.. sorry for stupid questions.. cause i i purchased a new handgun 10/10 (dros started) .. and i just bought one today.. so am i good?

I went to do a PPT this morning for a Glock 19 RTF 2 and was told that if you are buying a new handgun from a dealer/FFL, the thirty days starts from the date that you register your firearm on the DROS paperwork and not the pick up date ten days later. If you are buying from a PPT from their collection then there is "No" 30 day in between wait and you can purchase/transfer immediately. Who did you buy the first gun from? Store or private? Same goes for the one you just bought? I'm sure (I hope?) that if you bought the guns from a dealer/FFL they would cover this question at the time when you finalize your purchase or transfer and especially when they tell you the fine print about the fees and (All Sales Are Final) just in case you turn out to be a wanted felon. If they sold it to you or did the transfer then I think you are in the clear. I'm not sure if there is a thread for this but I hope this helps you out. What guns are adding to your family if you don't mind me asking? Thanks

my purchase on Oct 10 was from a dealer[new handgun] and todays purchase was from a dealer as well[new handgun]..... I should be good then... i purchased a sig 220 carry. oct 10.. and today I just paid for a SA1911 loaded SS. i am really excited because its going to be my first 1911.. now I just have to play the waiting game -.-

Nice additions echang72! I'm looking to add my first 1911 to the family as soon as I find her. Let me know how the SA1911 turns out, I was looking at her today along with the Kimber Warrior and a Les Baer Thunder Ranch someone suggested.
