Does anyone know factual #'s on how many 1911's are made and sold per year for each company?

Better question is how many Springfields go back for warranty work.

IIRC, the last time it was published, Kimbers sold in excess of 87,000 in one year alone. They are by far the largest seller of 1911s in the world inspite of all the bad-mouthing in the error net.

I doubt S.A. and Colt combined are any were near what Kimber sells.

That's just showing pistols made if I read that right. What about actually sold??

For 2010 production I would wager those numbers are synonymous...or within one or two % points...

Unless you think they are aging them like fine wines.

Springfield imports quite a few of their 1911's as made in Brazil firearms. They wouldn't show on the report if you are trying to compare annual sales.

They do show imported firearms, but as for S.A. The majority of thier sales are the XD line. They would need to be seperated if the goal is 1911 sales.

With kimber toss out a small % of the 9mm sales (solo) and the rest are all 1911s.
