    Glock vs. SA XD

Yeah another of these vs... threads...

I've decided to get a new inexpensive toy to add to my collection of fun ..
I have nothing against either gun, as a matter of fact I like them both... have shot them both etc... I plan on keeping it as my nightstand gun as well...

Probably looking for a .40 cal Glock or SA XD series..
I shot my friend's XD-9 and his G22, different guns but I can go either way... whats your opinion?

One of the few guns I would pick a Glock over is the XD. Can't stand the way they shoot.

Maybe it's just me, but shooting a G23 and an XD-40 side by side, I found that it was easier, less felt recoil and I was slightly more accurate with the Glock over the Springfield. Either gun is great. I switched back to 9mm recently, and have a G19, looking at getting a double-stack sub-compact and am trying to decide between the XD9sc and G26. Either way you can't go wrong. In a free state XD pistols typically beat glocks for capacity, but Glocks are much cheaper and easier to get parts and sights for, if either of those are a factor for you.

"Moms Demand Action" sounds less like a gun control group and more like the title of a porn flick from the mid-90s.

Buy the one you shoot well with. But, generally Glock owners will say Glocks are best and XD owners will say both is fine...

        Good luck deciding.

I think the OP would like you to elaborate. Why don't you like shooting the XD?

I actually have both and I like them both.

            XD for me

Just go and pick the one that feels best in your hand. Or shoot them and then decide.

I would add the M&P to the list of considerations as well.

              I'll take a XD9 Service or Tactical over a G17/G34 everytime.

However, Springfield does not make a G19 comparably sized model. The G19 is just small enough in both grip height and slide length over the XD compact. The XD compact's grip is too short and I hate mag spacers. They are pointless.

That said, for carry reasons I would have to go with a G19.

Are you listening Springfield. G19 sized XD.

Don't stress about it. Just buy both. Problem solved.

I picked a XD9 over a Glock 17 because even though I shot well with both, I couldn't see myself get a comfortable grip on the Glock. I also have a Sig P226 SS and a Sig 1911 Nitron, and the XD has a similar field strip process to the P226, and the grip angle with grip safety a la 1911. Prefer single action of the XD striker to the Glock's double action striker. When looking at all possible SHTF scenarios, with both pistols you just rack the slide, and shoot, but if I ever have to throw the pistol to my wife for whatever reason, or vice versa, I'd rather catch a XD instead a Glock for fear that just hitting the trigger accidentally with the muzzle pointed at me will make the pistol go BANG. Oh yeah, and I think Glocks are fugly but like with everything I just mentioned, it's all personal opinion and preferences

Im only allowed to buy one gun a month.... And I have broken that rule several times this year

But yes, likely that both may end up in my collection.. just not at once...

I shoot Glocks, but would recommend XDs over Glocks any day. Sike.
