Sad about the barrel of my M92 PAP AK47 Pistol

I was excited to order the M92 pistol but found out that it has a NON-Chrome Lined barrel. All my stuff has chrome line and I'm worried now that I have to always keep barrel oiled or else it will rust. I've never owned a non-chrome lined barrel... if I clean it after I shoot it, do I need to regularly clean it or oil the barrel? I'm even thinking about buying an after market chromed barrel and hiring a gun smith to change it out.

What do you think? Should I change the barrel?

Also, if you own a non-chromed barrel, does it rust just leaving it in your safe after x amount of time?

Thanks ahead of time to those who can give their advice and comments!

I can't believe that you are worried about something so silly.

Somehow we all managed to get along just fine before they started to chrome line barrels and you can too. Even if you are using corrosive ammo there will be no problems with your barrel rusting as long as you clean your gun properly.

I have firearms that are well over a hundred years old with their original barrels and they are still in good condition. This includes rifles that were used by the military as well as civilian models.

With modern non-corrosive ammo all I do is run a patch lightly coated with oil down the barrel after I'm done cleaning. I live near the beach and have had no problems over the last 40 years with barrels rusting.

I wouldn't worry about it, you would far exceed the price of your Yugo in ammo before you would even notice anything wrong with the barrel. The only thing you would need to worry about is pitting and corrosion, if you do not clean the barrel every once in a while.

Heck m70's are notorious for having these kind of problems, mostly because their owners were neglectful in Yugoslavia. Ymmv

you forgot to put, "clean gun properly", after the second "shoot ammo"
That may be a CG first!
