    Size-off!!! CZ97 vs CZ75D/B

Here is a little comparison between a CZ97B and a CZ75D PCR. The PCR has the same dimensions as the P-01. The only difference between the aluminum and steel frame is the aluminum frame is 0.10 wider at the frame rails but drops back down to 1-inch at the grips. As you will see the 97B is not the huge beast everyone seems to think. The DA pull is long at maybe 3.50 3.25" length but 99.99% of the time it will be shot in SA.

    Things to note.....

*Measurements were done with a digital caliper in inches

*The 97B has Hogue aftermarket grips while the PCR has OEM rubbers. With the same grips on both guns they are exactly the same width.

*The 97B is SA only and the trigger is set the shortest pre-travel. The PCR is stock.

*The width of a steel frame 97B and 75B are exactly the same, 1-inch exactly.

The "C" is the length of the PCR in DA. Sorry I can't measure the 97B as its SA only but I would guestimate 3.50" Actual length is 3.25"

The guns are both in SA here and positioned at the same point, where the web of your hand sits. The 97B is only slight longer by 0.08" due to the thicker trigger installed.

In DA mode with the trigger forward my 97B measures a touch over 3.6" to the tip of the trigger, about 3.25" in the center of the trigger.

Something else to note about the 97B size is the "low" 10rd capacity. It is due to CZ not increasing the width at all. Looks like they just increased the length enough (0.17") to fit a 45ACP inside.

So there's no confusion, the aluminum-framed 75-based guns are wider at the frame rails and the steel-framed guns are not. Aluminum isn't as strong, so the rails and the frame up there have to be thicker. Decocker or safety model doesn't drive frame thickness.

Seems like all the metal CZ's are staggered rounds, not true double-stack. The P-07 Duty is a real double-stack magazine design, which is why its fatter magazines will not fit in a metal 75-series gun, but the 75 mags will actually fit and function in a P-07.

Yes, very good point. I should have clarified steel vs aluminum, not D vs B. Sorry guys

It only dawned on my recently when I went ape s**t on tearing apart and measuring mine to figure out differences between the SP-01 and P-01: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=633943

BTW please re-take the middle photo and get the "WestSide" gang side correct this time

The only thing that is "large" on the 97 is the location of the slide release. Everything else seems pretty normal to me. I have medium sized hands, and have no problem handling my 97.
