    S&W 659

Hi! I was wondering if anybody has owned/shot a S&W 659 and could tell me a little about it, such as some pros or cons and if its something worth buying. Thanks

I wasn't going to say it, but that's totally where I got the inspiration. Lol.

I carried one for several years as a duty weapon. Never had a problem with it.
Only reason I stopped carrying it is that I wanted a 45 so I switched to a Glock 21.
Still have it along with several factory 20 round mags.

S&W knows how to make a quality pistol. If you have a chance to buy one, do so.

The 659 is nice but heavy. I works every time I pull the trigger and is smooth. It has a magazine safety. Parts are available as well as magazine rebuild kits. Stainless Steel with 15 rounds solid and fun.

I had one for a short period of time many years ago. Had lots of malfunctions with it and got rid of it pretty quick. I think Smith and Wessons have improved their semi auto quality a lot over the years and the newer models are way better then the old ones. I carry a M&P compact 9 now for EDC.

Do they continue to make this model or is it discontinued? Is it a readily available? I mean it probably won't be like a glock would but you know what I mean.

They are not made anymore but they are reliable and solid handguns.

It is no glock but S&W 3rd gens are right there with glocks in the reliability department.

The 659 and other 2nd and 1st generation S&W's are becoming collectors items but they are still readily available for people.

OP, remember that these are not on the list and are somewhat hard to find in-state as most people don't want to get rid of theirs. Due to the barrel bushing, can a longer barrel be put in for SSE? I know it's very difficult with 3rd gens.

Oh so it can't be shipped to CA? Sorry I don't know what guns are on/not on the roster or what qualifies/disqualifies them.
