I think I might finally be done with this pistol. Goal was to make a 45ACP that could not only run with, but destroy the best 1911's out there. Nothing wrong with a 1911, I just saw amazing potential in the CZ97B. I actually sold a SA1911 Loaded to fund this pistol.
Here are the specs....
CZ97B NIB = $500 OTD
CGW FP retaining pin = $10
CZ Custom trigger pin = $7.50
SS Guide rod = $5
CGW Rear sight = $48
DP 0.090 Serrated Front Sight = $25
CGW Race Hammer = $78
Hogue grips = $25
18lbs wolf recoil spring = $10
TOTAL = $708.50
$700ish bought me a tricked out 45 pistol. Not bad right?
Work I have done (not including installing all the parts above)....
Polished barrel
Widened and polish feed ramp
Tightened bushing to frame fit. Zero play
Machined a SS guide rod
Installed pre and post travel screws on trigger
Melted trigger edges for a smoother feel
Changed sear angle to fit exactly with CGW hammer
Heat treated sear
Adjusted sear to manual safety switch
Re-positioned trigger return spring for lighter pull
Polished bottom of sear cage
Polished whole trigger bar
Polished bottom of slide rails
Adjusted mags to feed more reliably
Removed FPB
Disabled mag break
Converted it to SA only
As you can see i've spent a lot of time on this pistol. Kinda bummed that its over honestly. Time for a new pistol to work on I guess
The trigger break is a very crisp 2lbs exactly with less than 1/8th inch over travel. I actually had to remove the post travel screw I installed in the trigger because the CGW hammer was so well designed it set the braking point all the way to the rear. I thought I might have to remove a little material from the trigger to give me more pull but it was perfect. Reach is about the same as a 1911 now. Nothing but praises to CGW for his trigger. Very happy with it.
This pistol functions 100%.... with round noise bullets. This model pistol is known for it questionable JHP reliability and despite all my efforts to fix this it still IMO is not reliable enough for SD. I have not tried Hornady CD which might work well but I have already made this pistol a dedicated range gun so no sense in wasting money on testing them. It loves to eat 230gr LRN from Bear Creek loaded on the warm side, which is why I am running an 18lbs spring. I actually forgot to oil this pistol before my last range trip and it still shot 200 rounds without an issue. Everything is smooth as butter so little to no oil is needed.
As you can see in the pictures my sights are off. I had to mill down the front sight as it was WAY too tall and its still too tall so its back to the mill to shave a little more off. The rear sight is great! I just have to learn how to center it correctly
. Its CGW own design just like the race hammer. I love how the sight raps back around the back of the slide to show more surface without adding height. As it should be, the dove tail was slightly over sized so a little work with the files and stones and it tapped right in snug as a bug.
Love this pistol and I would put it up against ANY semi-auto target pistol in the world. It is just super smooth to shoot and recoil is very low thanks to the weight and low bore. Its just a joy to shoot especially at plates and racing on the dueling tree.
7y, 10y and 20y 5-shot groups standing two hands

My camera skills are pathetic but the hammer is resting on just a razors edge.
