Are these really made in Brazil?

The frames and, IIRC, slides are forged in Brazil. I do believe that all assembly
and all other parts are American.

Imbel Brazil makes ALL the frames and slides for SA. They are a top notch manufacturer. Their steel is among the best in the world.

All GI's and most Milspecs arrive completely assembled from Brazil. Higher end pistols are assembled here on Imbel slides and frames.

NM prefix serial # pistols are assembled here. N serial # pistols are assembled in Brazil.

I wish we could get more of their firearms in the US:

I read here or on another forum that all the frames are made in Brazil. If it has the Brazil stuff written on the side, than the entire gun was assembled there also. If it does not have the Imbel on the side than it was assembled in the U.S. On their FAQ (I think thats where I read it) they said all GIs are made and assembled in Brazil and that some Mil Specs are assembled there if the factory here is too busy.

My Mil-spec ultra compact has Brazil on the frame.
Ive heard good things from Imbel so im not worried about quality.
I Know many would prefer to buy a all US gun but if the quality is good and helps keep the price down by a few hundred i dont mind.
Just for a FYI many people from other states regard us as nothing more than commies that have dog s**t on them,so ill buy from other sources that dont mind selling to us poor commie Kalifornians.

The main thing is that Springfield Armory stands behind their guns. If there is a problem they fix it or replace it.

yeah...they're getting really hard to find hard to find in black, even harder in stainless.

You guys almost have it right. All Springfield 1911's through and including the loaded models are completely assembled at Imbel and are imported into the US ready to sell. TRP's are assembled here in the US by the same parts that go into a loaded but are "cherry picked" to assemble the gun.

Springfield Custom Shop guns are completely made here in the US on slides and frames made by Imbel. Springfield has at times listed the Custom Shop on the ATF manufacturer's list as David Reese Enterprises or something like that. This is because they were the only handguns actually being made in the US.

Some early mil-specs were assembled here in the US. They had the NM prefix in their serial number.
