Glock extended magazine release and sights question

So today I finally noticed that the rear sight on my Glock 17 if off center, almost all the way to the left. Which might explain why I've been having trouble hitting the center of the target (grouping has been ok):



With the sight being off center like that which way would you expect my aim to be off? I'm assuming I'd shoot to the left but am not sure.

In any case I plan to hit up GlockStore tomorrow and get some Trijicon night sights. While I'm there I'm wondering if I should grab a factory extended magazine release?

This is my night stand gun and currently I sort of have to rotate my grip a little to operate the release and I'm wondering if the longer release would solve this?

If the sight it to far left you will be hitting right of what your target, as far as extended mag release I wouldn't if its HD gun, chance of hitting it while in a high stress situation

Good point. Guess it's better to have to work to release the magazine rather than do it accidentally. I suppose that if a HD situation comes up that I actually need to swap a magazine then **** is already real enough that it probably won't matter.

Back on the sights though, are you sure on that? It was hard for me to figure it out just looking at the sights however I put my index finger up on the left side of the gun and pretend it is the rear sight I have to point the gun left in order to line up the front sight.

Unless your Glock is a Range Gun, I would Leave the Magazine Release Stock.

If you shopping for Glock Parts, I would look into a OEM Extended Slide Release, you really can't go wrong.

Are you looking into the Trijicon HD's? I almost went with those but bought Ameriglo CAP sights instead.

Thanks My shots have been center left of where I've been aiming, grouped decently. Before noticing this I just assumed it was because I sucked with semi-autos and/or was just more used to shooting my GP-100 in SA.

I say 100% go for an extended mag release, had it on my G23 and have it on my G19, absolutely love it and makes a huge difference when trying to change mags quickly, it just seems easier to depress to the point of releasing the mag and allowing it to drop free than the standard mag release and I don't shift my grip AS MUCH as I would with the standard release. I would also recommend the extended slide stop lever, but that is just out of personal preference since there are times I like to use it as a slide release.

This is not correct.


If the rear sight is moved to the left, the gun will shoot to the left. If the rear sight is moved to the right, the gun will shoot to the right.

A simple rule of thumb to remember. Move the rear sight in the direction that you want the bullet to go.

Just do not get a competition one, now those are super extended.

Let's put it the other way, I think the original one is a little too short, because it's the only gun that I have, that I need to angle my grip little to release.

Such a cheap price, you can shave it down to your liking or go back to the original one.

I have carried my Glocks with extended mag releases, in a holster with a full back, so it would be putting pressure against the mag release if it was going to, never had a mag accidentally pop out with an extended release, so I don't think that having the factory extended release is going to be an issue on a carry gun.

Try the extended mag release in a tac pistol/ccw course. If you find yourself bumping it and dropping mags when you don't want to then swap it back. If you seem to be just fine with it then keep it.
