G19, night sights or ?

I am probably going to be getting a set of night sights for my G19, had them on my G23 and 27 and grew accustomed to them being there, and not extremely fond of the factory square U rear sights, but I don't particularly hate them.

I have about $100 or so to spend, over at Glockmeister here in Mesa I can get Glock factory night sights for $75+tax installed or Meprolight night sights for $77+ tax installed. I am also planning on getting a 3.5 lb connector and factory extended mag release installed at the same time, so either of those choices will put me right around what I have budgeted to spend on this gun at this time.

If you were in my shoes would you go with the Glock night sights or Meprolight night sights? Not like there is a huge cost difference, is there a huge quality difference? Should I pass on both and save a little more money and get Trijicons? Should I just pass on night sights and grab a rail mounted light? I have never seen the point to those since I keep my surefire E2D right next to my nightstand gun anyway. I'm going to say no to laser recommendations. I'm not a fan of lasers for anything but a concealed carry gun that probably only be shot at very close ranges anyway.

How about Truglo TFO? it's about 70 and very useful for the combination of night sight and fiber.

Bit more than $70, they'd be $100+tax and include free installation. I'll take a look at them, but I've never been that impressed by anything TruGlo makes.

You can also ship your slide to Glock and they can install factory night sights on them for really cheap. I forget exactly how much but it's around 60 bucks I think.

I always get factory night sights when possible, but it's not a deal breaker for me except for a duty gun. Since I'm now retired, that isn't as big of a concern. I do like night sights though.....

I have factory night sights on my Glocks...I also have installed the 3.5# connector on my Glock 19, my Glcok 26 is not modified as I carry it.

^^ this ... I was pleasantly surprised by them... the thing I like about them is they are pretty much visible in dark and lighted conditions. Unlike normal nightsights which are visible just during dark / low light situations and white during lighted conditions.

Yup, I just installed some Ameriglo CAP Sights "75$" on my G19. My second option was Trijicon HDs but that's double the price.

I installed the front sights since it came with the Front Sight Tool, and got the Rear installed for free at my local FFL who only deals with LEO/Military, since I work right across the way they always take of me.

Unless you are trying to hit an apple at 25 yards i would get 24/7 XS Big dots. They are very fast to aquire a sight picture on target and though you may not be putting up half inch groups you will be well with in center mass of your siloet targets while reaquiring your sight to target much much faster than other 3dot sights.

Just got done over at Glockmeister an hour ago. $102 and some change for Meprolight Tru Dot sights, factory extended mag release and Ghost 3.5 trigger connector. Decided on the Tru Dots after looking at them and the factory sights side by side. Very happy with the trigger after doing a little dry fire practice and my 33rd mags easily drop free with the extended mag release whereas I had to press a lot harder on the original mag release or pull them out by hand. Looking forward to some range time after the gun show tomorrow.

If I recall correctly, Meprolight manufactures the Glock night sites. I've run Meprolights, Trijicons, factory night sites (Meps) and 10-8 sites on my Glocks. I like the Meprolights a lot. I run 10-8 sites on my guns that are running mounted lights because the when you're running and gunning with the light on, you can't even see the night sites. They then become a moot point.

If I were in your shoes I would get a light for the rail. I'm not crazy about night lights bc I don't think anyone should fire a gun in the total dark. Also, your range accuracy will go down with night sights. My 2 cents,

Factory Glock night sights are Meprolights.
