    LA-area Utah CCW class?

Are there any upcoming Utah CCW classes in LA?

http://www.ccwusa.com/ has them in SD (and Long Beach), but a weekend class closer in would be nice.

Check with Fred at So Cal Sharpshooter in Torrance. Great tactical instructor.

I need to get mine too. I spoke with Gun World on Cohaset and they said they can do a class anytime for $100.

I wholeheartedly recommend Eugene Leary. I believe he normally teaches classes at Oaktree Gun Club. The class only costs $70 (not including the Utah application fee, photographs, notary, etc.) and is very fun and informative. Gene is a retired LAPD lieutenant and can add some great insight to the topics discussed. His phone number is 661-255-3298. Give him a call, you won't be sorry.

BTW, Utah is caught up with applications. It took me slightly more than a month to get my card.

I took mine with Gene, he is very flexible and has no problems arranging a one on one class at the above price (last time I heard).

He can also do the fingerprinting (at modest extra cost).

I also took a number of brushup classes with him. Well worth it.

I would love to get a CCW for these states since I travel over to Arizona and Nevada often. Some of the places I have to go through is pretty iffy. Do I just go on the website and fill out the app? Sorry for my ignorance but is there any place in the La area where I can take the classes? Thanks in advance.

Anyone know of a place in the IE (San Berdo/Riverside County) that gives the UT CCW class?

Sorry to sound kinda dumb here...but what is the purpose of a Utah CCW class? if you have a CCW from Utah, is it valid here in CA?

To answer a couple of questions above:

                    1) Utah CCW is NOT valid in California as our great state does not have reciprocity and does not recognize any of the out of state CCW's.

                    2) Utah CCW is handy for people that travel out of state often. Many of us regularly go to Nevada or Arizona. Starting Jan 1st Nevada began recognizing Utah CCW.

                    3) To obtain Utah CCW you must complete a course taught by a certified instructor and shoot a (very easy) qualification course. Check Utah's BCI (Bureau of Criminal Identification) website. They have a list of Instructors authorized to teach the course. Find someone close to you and give them a call, they will give you the details.

                          Perfectly possible, see:http://bci.utah.gov/CFP/CFPHome.html

If you want a novelty item, why not just buy a bobble head doll?
Others that have these do not consider it a novelty item...
