    Off Roster Generation 4 Glocks

Did the Generation 3 Glock have a magazine disconnect safety on it? Is that why
the Generation 3 is still on the CA approved roster but the Generation 4 isn't?

I ran a search and found a thread discussing this issue, but the forum software
doesn't allow me to ask a question in a thread that's more then 231 days old.

gen 3s and 4s do not have a mag dis. gen4s were manufactured after legislation was passed requiring all new pistols to have the mag dis and loaded chamber indicator. gen3s are grandfathered in along with other pistols on the CA list of approved firearms.

Glocks haven't changed much functionally since they were put on the Roster until Generation 4, at which time the DOJ said they were sufficiently different from the current models to be considered a brand new model.

As a brand new model, Gen 4 Glocks had to have all the most recent bells and whistles, including the magazine disconnect, which they don't have. Thus, they can never get on the Roster.

I'm assuming most CA gun stores will only be stocking the pistols
that are on the DOJ approved roster; is that a good assumption?

Shops that do SSE sales, which are few but they do exist, will sell the Gen 4 Glocks to people not roster exempt. (legally of course)

See this sticky thread for details on what SSE is, and a list of known shops that do them.

I am issued (and also bought my own) a GEN4 G22.

                    It is a bit better ( I think ) than Gen3 22.

( Also early this year Glock started to make factory 22rd magazines for a .40. )

As far as 9mm GEN4 Glocks, they are fine too, but ONLY if You use full power LE type ammunition or NATO Ball.

My favorite 9mm Glocks are GEN2.
