    CA Roster handgun

    HI

Hoping someone can confirm this for me, The below is from the CA DOJ Handgun roster site - http://certguns.doj.ca.gov

Effective January 1, 2001, no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice. Private party transfers, curio/relic handguns, certain single-action revolvers, and pawn/consignment returns are exempt from this requirement.

    - Now does this mean if i purchase a hand gun from a FFL in CA i can only purchase a gun from the roster, but if i buy a handgun (online) from a private party and sent to a CA FFL then i can purchase something that isnt on the CA roster? for example the Ruger LCP?

    thanks

No such luck, DB. Check out some of the stickies on the forum here. Only in person private party transfers are roster exempt. If the gun ships, whether from inside CA or not, the ffl takes possession and that means the roster applies.

There are exemptions such as gifts from certain family members, but the answer top your question is "no"

The first answer is yes, and the second answer is no.

You can only bypass the roster through ppt, single shot exemption, or intra familial transfer. If an FFL mails it in, it needs to be on the roster.

Talk to Michael at EBR works he's a member here and can answer your question. He can also receive off roster pistols and SSE them if it is a firearm that he supports.

Read the stickies. It's parent, grandparent, child. no other relations work. Roster or not, CA is still a huge improvement from the UK!
