tips for always shooting left / low left , glock 23

i always shoot LEFT and sometimes low left of point of aim, any tips i know its hard w/o actually seeing me shoot but what does this usually mean


and i'll probably see the DRY FIRE, but to me dry fire i know the gun is not going to recoil so i stay dead straight, but hey i'll keep doing it since even pros dry fire all day

then im assuming snap cap trick at the range as well

I had the same problem for several years: always had the rear sight hangin' off the side of the receiver (on a revolver, not a Glock). Found out when I was shooting skeet that I suffer from a fairly common neurological problem called "cross dominance." (No Bubba, it ain't a sexual preference thang.....). Means that your lead or dominant eye is opposite to your lead or dominant hand. In my case, I am strongly right handed and left eyed.

If you find this to be the case, there are various solutions. What I do is cover the focal point of my left eye with a little dab of tape, forcing me to focus with my right eye. I tried switching hands for shooting but found that then I couldn't hit the right county, let alone the target.

Books on shooting will tell you how to check yourself for cross dominance, not hard at all.

It's only one possible reason for your problem, but a common cause of shooting consistently right or left of the target.

Maybe you just need the sights adjusted for you---that is the rear sight drifted to the right in it's dovetail---this will help center your groups. If the gun shoots low, you can have a taller rear sight installed or you can adjust your aiming point higher; a dead-on sight picture instead of a "six o'clock" hold. Good luck with this.

There is a target that has the common reasons for certain common trigger habits. Maybe somebody can post it, helped me with the same issue. I just practiced dry fire and it eventually helped.

Also, maybe have someone else shoot it. I was having similar issues and had a friend shoot it before I changed the sights. He shot a ragged hole through the bullseye, so I knew it was me not the gun.

You're mashing the trigger.

Sounds like your anticipating the recoil. Mix some snap caps in the magazine and see if you're anticipating it.

Milking the grip maybe. In any case, put a penny on your front sight and dry fire about a million times. It will tell you right away if you have proper trigger control.

ive seen that before, my teacher for my ccw class said that thing was made DECADES ago and he doesnt really believe in it haha

I used it when I started (I'm a lefty) and it helped me a lot. I asked which hand you were to post the correct one.

That is the target I was talking about. My "teacher" told me I wouldn't amount to anything, I retired at 55.
