Hi, i like the Dan Wesson/ CZ cbob and have seen a few posted for sale recently and am hoping someone can explain the deference in the production years and why one is considered better. Can you give the reasons. Thank you

Later model had finer checkering and all stainless, non-mim parts. Some of the 2007 or 2008 models with the blue hammers were prone to breakage. Other than that, awesome guns from all years of production, but becoming severely overpriced. I bought my 2005 model in 2006 for $868

Also, up until 2009 Cbob's had cast frames and 2010 on have forged frames!Later model had finer checkering and all stainless, non-mim parts. And yes, people are asking ridiculous prices for used Cbob's...not going to say who, but there's a certain '07 model going for $1400 as we speak. My friend has a '10 for the same price...something wrong there!
Oh yeah, I have an '09 and love it!Comment

The best part is the old ones being priced like the new ones.
DW is becoming less of a value, although they say are now pricing appropriately (meaning they entered the market at a lower price point to build the brand etc.).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the high pricing of the CBOB is in CA only and due to the roster, correct? I bought my CBOB and a PM7 a few years back for $950.00 each and at that price they are an excellent value.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

No. It's a high price everywhere now.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

It was a good value when I purchased my cbob for around 850 new a few years ago. Sold it used for $1,400. Cannot say that every day. Now they are quality but for the price I would purchase a les Baer or sti.Comment

Nope, the CBOB is a CA only gun and is on the roster...the rest of the country gets the VBOB...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

I bought a used '08 in early '09 for $950, just before the prices started to accelerate.
Without question, I was fortunate.
They are not a value @ $1400 used IMO. They are not a bad choice at that price, just not a value.
The open secret is that they are really hand made. There are a few automated production segments, but by and large they are hand fitted.
No MIM, lots of Ed Brown parts, series 70 - lots of positives.
At the time I bought mine, there were a total of 12 employees including the sales and book keepers working there.Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum.Comment

Thanks for the input; how do you know the build date?, by the serial number and how do you read it?Comment

$1680 is what I've seen them go for locally. Sorry, for that money, I will pay a little extra and get the Vbob SSE'd or just buy a Les Baer.
Looks like A/B has quite the mark up!
Right side of pistol, Capitol C followed by numbers...1st number corresponds the year made. My Cbob reads: C9xxxxCZ, "2009"
I might trade mine for a Toyota Corolla!
