Made the 9mm decision

So I think that the economy has led me to make up my mind to either buy a new 9mm range gun or get a 40-9 conversion barrel for my EDC Glock 23. Either way I have way to many calibers!! .38 J-frame, LC9, and G23 in .40 and I want to start buying just bulk 9mm and being good to go for a day of range time...

If I don't get the 40-9 conversion then what are your favorite 9mm range guns? (This is for range time only. LC9 for my wife to shoot, and now something else for both of us if she comes along.)

I recently acquired a Springfield xd9 Tactiical for this very reason. It's plenty fun. It's like shooting a .22

I love my Sig 226 stainless in 9mm. The weight makes the recoil seem like nothing. And I can practice double and single action.

Lol I sold my .22 rifle and 1911 not too long ago. I had the RIA Officer's sized on my ccw. Sold it for the LC9 for my wife.

Get the conversion barrel. I have the Storm Lake 23/9mm and it has been flawless. No need for a new gun. You should get some 9mm magazines though. The 40 mags will shoot 9 but I have had a few hiccups doing this, FTF. You can use 17/34/19 mags in the 23. Makes for a quick day and a hot Glock if you preload 15 mags.

Neither. Put the money towards a reloading setup.

You can handload 40 from mild to wild, and you'll save more doing that than buying a new gun & more ammo of a different caliber. I load 180gr JHP's for about $160 per 1,000 & 185gr Moly's for about $130 per 1,000. I use the 180gr JHP's for 10mm, and the 185's for my USPSA Limited gun, but they cost the same to reload since I have plenty of brass for both.

If cost is a factor, it's hard to beat the Lonewolf 40-9 conversion. I have them for my G23 and G27.

You already have the best. If you do want to buy another, get a Glock 19.

In your situation, conversion barrel is the best bet. It should be affordable ($150-$200 depending who makes it: Lone Wolf, Storm Lake or Bar-Sto) without the hassle of DROS and 10 day jail. Plus you got the platform for it (G23). On the subject of affordable shooting, have you considered a .22LR Advantage Arms conversion for the G19/G23? It may not as accurate as shooting a .22LR plinker pistol, but it definitely affords you cheaper trigger time.

Otherwise, to stay with the same Glock platform, a G17 or G19 would be the best bet.

Sell the others and get a Sig P226 in 9mm. One you shoot it you will forget the others.
