    Gun birth date

The test bullet tag on my new FN FiveseveN says 10/21/11 just curious if that is considered old? As in been sitting on the shelf in the shop, or does it take 6 mos to get fired then shipped to a dealer. Just curious how "stale" it is.

    TIA

I got a S&W 686 no dash NITB in 1996 made in 81, from a retired homebased FFL. My last Glock was 19 days old when it got out of jail.

I think it's past it's expiration date. Don't shoot it. Get rid of it.

I don't think anyone is hating on you. Enjoy your gun, it's definitely not stale.

Foebia, I understand your curiosity. It's always nice to have a "fresh" gun. Sometimes models made earlier have not received certain upgrades that the later models may have. I'm not sure if this applies to the gun in question and maybe it's not an issue that you would be concerned with. An example of this would be the Ruger SR9...Mossberg 930spx..I'm sure there are more but these are what come to mind right now. I think those posting above are just posting in fun...try not to take it personal. Sometimes it's really difficult to judge attitude on forums and such. Calguns is a great place to hang.

No hate Bro It's just what, when, and where the gun ends up. in my shop a 1911 is gone in a week be it a RIA, kimber, Ed Browm, Night Hawk, S&W,
Sig. But a 92FS might last 6 months Don't sweat it shoot it.

If your worried about it, then you can clean out all the factory oil/lube and oil it up yourself. I've heard people say you should do that to all new guns but I never do and have never had a problem.

My comment certainly wasn't meant as a "dis."

It's past it's expiration. It's no good. Send it to me for disposal.

Your gun is fine. I don't know of any changes that have been made to the 5.7 since that date. And even if there were some improvements, your gun has still been proven to work great. Be happy. I wish I had a 5.7.
