    M&P9 should I do it?

This gun feels the best out of the many I have shot and held. Is this a gun anyone here would recommend as a first gun or should I go another route?
I was hoping to get my hands on the cz75bd but it's rather hard to come by so it's going to have to wait.

I have one and love it. If it feels good in your hands and you like it go for it.

Why not m&p40 and get a 9mm conversion barrel.

People are going to suggest what ever they are invested in. You won't go wrong with an M&P its my personal favorite polymer pistol and American made to boot.

The Wife and I both have M&P9's.
I also have a G19 that I also love... She hates it. LoL
M&P9 is good choice. Be sure to try Glock17&19 as well.

M&P makes a good gun. Much better than there old Sigma line. S&W really did their homework and took the best parts of the Glock and made an ergonomic pistol. I dislike their mag disconnect and take-down lever but its super easy to remove all that junk.

Is the barrel the only thing you need for this?
What's the difference between the 9 and the 40 other than the caliber?

the factory barrel works great and you can use the .40 mags but the 9mm ones work a little better.

                      check out midway.

Try to get one manufactured within the last month or so. They've improved the trigger group and supposedly worked out some of the accuracy problems the m&p 9s were having.

Don't get a .40 and a conversion barrel. Waste of money.

Possibly the ejector (placed farther off-center for .40 than 9) and the recoil spring (heavier for .40 than 9 to keep the slide from beating up the frame). I don't know much about M&Ps, but that's what Glocks require.

none of that is needed. the recoil spring/ rod assembly are the same for the .40 and 9mm

but if you dont want .40 just get the 9mm and call it a day.

I prefer the ergonomics of the Glock 19, but you should go with whatever works best for YOU. Don't let anyone tell you that you're better off with _______, if you shoot the M&P9 better than other 9mms you've tried, go for it.

When I tried out the M&P 9 I noticed the trigger looked/felt very fragile and cheap. I would be worried about the thing breaking off if the gun was tossed around a bit in the trunk/case... I know this is highly unlikely but I just couldn't get over how cheap the trigger looked. It's also kinda small, I like to have a little more surface area for the pad of my finger to rest on. I've heard great things about the gun from people who own one though.
