Corroded ammo

I bought some Sellier and Bellot 9mm ammo off of a coworker. 5 boxes of 50 rounds for $25. The ammo is 11 years old. He bought them September 2001 shortly after 9/11 as a just in case. He had them stored in a closed cabinet in his garage. 4 of the boxes look good to go. But in one box, almost half have discoloration and spots on the casing. Some of it can scrape off with your fingernail. But should I just just discard those? About 20 of them are like that.

take some scotchbright and clean them off look for pits in the cases

Yeah it would help to see pics...if it is mostly just a bit of brass tarnish then you should be good to go. Of course I probably wouldn't load those rounds in my HD gun anyhow.

Wipe them off or use a scouring pad and check for pitting. If you see prescence of pitting, IMHO, they are not safe.
