    Holster for a lefty?

I just recently picked up a Glock23 and im a leftyshooter looking for a decent holster for it. Belt/hip mounted is fine and im also open to check out the leg mounted options as well. Any advice on some brands to check out?

Almost every holster you see for right handed shooters is made for left handed shooters. So really I would just look at a holster you like and they will more than likely have the option for left handed carry.

It would help if you give more information. Inside the waistband, outside the waistband, leather, kydex, leather kydex hybrid. Budget? There are so many options out there.

How much do you want to spend and what do you expect from it? I have a couple $20 Blackhawk nylon holsters that works fine for desert plinking to hold my pistol and revolver while i reset targets but they aren't suitable for carrying nor would I want to use them for tactical coarses. You can spend more than $100 on a custom leather from Milt Sparks or similar for something that can handle serious use but they're overkill for plinking. Just depends on what you really want.

To me a Glock should be in Kydex so if concealment isn't an issue Comp-Tac makes a great competition focused OWB and Blade-Tech are pretty darn good too. If you want something a bit cheaper and more concealable (just don't get in trouble) then a Black Dog might be a good choice. Both also have mag pouches at their websites: Comp-Tac Black Dog. I'd just avoid Uncle Mikes and Fobus.

As long as you keep it in plain sight (no jacket and no untucked shirts) I'd say save some money and go with the $35 Black Dog for a plinking holster but if you want something super fast for competition I'd go Comp-Tac.

For BLM, go cheap Blackhawk and walmart straps.

Here is my post on subject. I got one with extra mag pouch included and it is a ambi-dex for $12.99 at Walmart. BARGAIN!

Do what I explained with double looping the belt and add extra 1" click-strap around thigh to pull in down a little.

Yeah, Blackhawk are "cheap" in price, but they are just as fast if not faster draw than others I've tried and guns don't fall out even when crashing through brush and scrambling on rocky terrian. If I was heading off to war for couple years I don't think they would last, but otherwise seem fine.

                  $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$
my bosses wife turned me onto cheap Walmart Blackhawk holsters.
Not sure if she had LadySmith but I think it was.

                  http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Hip-Holster,958,34.htm $12 at Walmart.

These just work better than other holsters at 3x price. The ones I got are amazingly forgiving in that you can stuff 'wrong' guns into them and they still work fine.

The snap release works good, or you can adjust the strap little loose so you can flip off the strap if you push the gun down a little at same time.

Get a cheap Walmart black nylon quick release belt strap for $2-3 in camping for the gun belt in either 1 or 1.5 inch. Gunbelt and holster for under $15 OTD.

Nice to have a separate gunbelt holster to snap on and off, so you don't have to bother with wearing holster or undo your belt and pants all the time or when driving, etc.

My #6? http://www.opticsplanet.com/blackhaw...mag-pouch.html holster has good metal clip which could be used for inside belt carry, but my #9 only has flex-plastic loop for a belt to be fed through, which doesn't make too much sense because the #9 (like this....http://www.walmart.com/ip/Blackhawk-...-Side/16913776) is for small guns. I use #9 for Bersa 380.

I wish Blackhawk(and others) would supply pic of both sides of their holsters so you could determine which ones got metal removable clips, two way belt feed, etc, etc.

PS-the 1.5" strap/belt comes 10ft long un-cut length so you can double it up and have a fairly tight loop around waist and hang the holster from outer, slightly looser belt if that is your style or if you want the gun able to move around for sitting in car, etc. You can fine tune all this with "keepers".

For open carry purposes, you can't go wrong with Blackhawk or Blade-Tech. I carry a G19 in the winter and just had a holster made by White Dog Holsters - he made a holster to accommodate my G19 equipped with a Crimson Trace Lightguard without the long waiting time of other custom/semi-custom Kydex holster makers.

I would also recommend staying away from Uncle Mike's and Fobus - in holsters you really do get what you pay for (the box o'holsters in my garage is living proof!)
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

This is very true! Once in a while you get a deal because a company is new and selling cheap just to get the ("hey we exist") word out about themselves but for the established companies you really do get what you pay for.

I have the Glock brand sport/combat holster. Cheap, effective, and does the job. Hugs tight to my waist too.

Note that most of these links are to right handed holsters. As a lefty I can tell the OP that *the availability* of LH hosters is much less - although the companies usually make them, sometimes they don't and you will find that most stores carry only a few. (links to wally world above are case in point). Agreed that Bladetech and comp-tac would be good choices for OWB kydex hip holsters. But if it doesn't say what hand it's for - it's Right. Galco has great holsters too (most are leather) but not all are made in the LH version.

I have a drawer full. It is a real "what the heck was I thinking" moment when I open it.

I don't own a White Dog but have seen a couple. Very high quality, fair price. If their turnaround is that quick, that is really good. I can also recommend SHTF iwb.
