Where to find deals on used Glocks

I've been searching around for a place to buy my first Glock (G19 gen 3), and figured I could find a good deal on a used one, but I'm having trouble finding one reasonably priced.

A LGS has ex-LEO duty Glock 19s but they are very close to the new price, and don't come with any extra mag or accessories... I'm not sure saving $50 is worth it over a new one.

The private firearms sales here on Calguns are slightly confusing to me... I see one used glock 19 for $500, which is more than they go for new (even worse considering the ppt fee). I also see one that's "LNIB" but not new, and even though it comes with tritium sights and an aftermarket guide rod, the guy want $700 for it. His reasoning is 500 for the gun, 150 for the sights, and 50 for the aftermarket parts. Do people always expect to make their money back on their investment like this? Why would I not just buy a new glock for 500 and get my own NEW tritium sites (probably for less than 150) and aftermarket parts?

If anyone knows of good deals on used Glock 19s that are available near the Sacramento area, please let me know. One of the reasons I'm looking for a used one is all the talk of ejector/extractor problems with the newer manufactured 9mms (not just gen 4s).

They do, and they never do.

My favorite gun which I bought for $500 is a $1200 gun if you count the improvements it had when I bought it. I can get $500 for it now.

Unless you are dead set on a Glock there are better guns out there.

Untrue! There are too many variables to make a blanket statement like that. I've had an excellent return on almost every firearm I have sold.

And what are all these 'better' guns than Glock?

I'm not "dead set" on a Glock, but out of the 10 or so 9mms I've fondled (p226, m&p 9, G17, G19, XD9, and others), the Glock 19 fit my hands the best by far. I have yet to hold or shoot a cz sp-01, so I will test that out before making my final decision, but so far the G19 feels like the best option for me.

Then there is a part of me that says I MUST have a 1911, but my budget would severely limit me here (RIA tactical perhaps). I don't have much experience shooting 1911s, so that would also cost more in rental/range time before I made the decision. Cost of .45acp is also a factor, and part of the reason I'm looking for a 9mm instead.

I've never found a used glock in a brick and mortar (or advertised online) in CA that wasn't near or at the price of a new gun.

There are places online that have very good deals on used glocks (www.jgsales.com for instance has 22's and 23's in good condition, sometimes with night sights on sale for $300-$400 sometimes). Problem is by the time you pay all shipping and associated fees you're about $100 less than a brand new gun.

I'd recommend picking up a new one when they're on sale for $499 at places like ammo bros or glockstore or whatever place has good deals near you. Used glock prices in CA are a joke IMO.

MalC, you should list where you're located. I know River City Gun Exchange in Sacramento gets agency trade in Glocks for about $400. They don't depreciate much lower than that.

Just added my location to my profile. What are the things to look out for when buying a used Glock? Other than checking the bore and the crown for damage, what should I be looking for in a used polymer semi-auto? What parts are likely to need replacing (recoil spring etc)?

When I asked about their used G19s at RCGE I could've sworn he told me they were more than $400 but I'll call them back and ask tomorrow.

I thought the sale was like $400.

I'll double check their prices, $400 seems like a good deal. So what else can I do to check the condition of the pistol other than checking the bore and dry firing? Are people generally allowed to field strip used guns before buying, and if so, what should I be checking for?

Edit: and is it considered polite to bring my own snap caps if I want to dry fire? I know some people are anal about this.

MalC, Buy it new. I went through the same thing recently. I can't understand why anyone would buy a used item (no warranty, possibly broken by seller, has their germs) for the same price as a new one. But there they are, doing it drives. Having researched prices recently, Glocks sell nationwide for about $500 bucks and there's no other deal. If you buy on the internet, be aware of the FFL fee. Also, I recommend trying out that CZ before getting the G19. Totally different type of pistol but really good.

Where to find deals on used glocks? Not on CalGuns! Everyone here selling their used glock (but but but it only has 200 rounds though it!) expects to get what they paid for it including tax and dros plus a finders fee and a break in fee so you are usually better off buying new. Occasionally there will be one for sale for a decent price but those are few and far between and you better act quick

                              I've seen that.

What I ahve to ask is anyone actually selling at these prices?

I've seen glocks for ~$800 in the FS section with a couple extra mags and some cheap dress up items/grip tape.

                              It's comical.

But it keeps happening so my only thought is someone must be buying at these prices.
