    1911 Choice

    Hi Calguns,

I want to pick up a nice 1911 but stay under $2000. I have a line on 2 new guns: Les Baer Custom Carry or STI Sentry Premier. Are there other brands I should be looking at? What are your experiences with these and should I be looking at other brands as well?

    Thanks!

I'd say in that budget and for all 1911s go Springfield operator series seems to be the best bang for your buck IMO.

Under $2000, Les Baer and Dan Wesson are king.

The Custom Carry would be my choice.

Les Baer, S&W E series are nice too and well below the 2k mark that leaves money for holsters and ammo.

Like others have said...Les Baer or Dan Wesson.

I have a DW Cbob and love it. Have shot several DW Valors, Vbobs and the new Specialist, all great shooters.

Had the pleasure of shooting a Les Bear Custom Carry, grrrreat pistol!!!

                        Good luck choosing!

Safety, slide stop, FP stop, mag release, beavertail safety, maybe the mainspring housing are MIM on several models.

I'd probably go with a TRP or Baer.
