Glock 19 question / ejecting issue?

Hey guys, this is a rookie question I must appologize for considering ive done a transaction at one time or another with so many of you but what better place to get quick advise!

I am a Sig guy first off, I have tried to get into glocks more after picking up a Kriss Super V, got the 21 SF and really started to like it plus it costs half of what most of my other pistols have so I really like that !

I just picked up a practically new Glock 19 Gen 4 with some upgrades such as extended slide release and the 3.5 disconnect from a very nice calgunner through ppt. I took it to the range the other day and of course it ran flawless with 3 types of ammo and that past my test so it's a keeper and I will probably get my wife comfortable with shooting it as well, heres me issue.

I have never, and I mean never been hit in the face with so much brass ! Seriously........ Remington walmart jhp's which I expect to do that kind of crap but also shot PMC 115 gr and Ranger 147g HP's.

So can I get a different extractor or? I have never had to deal with this in probably 40+ pistols that have passed through my hands over the years.

Thanks for any advise, I didnt want to take it to my gunsmith and have em look at me like an idiot ......

I'd try a new/different extractor....after Google-ing around, of course...it's not uncommon with certain Glocks. Personally, I don't mind some brass to the face...I like working through the distraction.

Lots of threads on this. In general if you use hotter ammo it should eject properly. Several options:
Send it to Glock to fix
Lone Wolf extractor might fix it
Apex Tactical extractor (not yet available to general public)

Brass to face issue affects Glock 9mm produced 2010 or later for both gen3 and gen4

Take this info and run with it. If you call Glock they will most likely fix it for you. It is a documented issue and has been talked about and debated to no end. Those three are you choices to fix the issue.

It's the EJECTOR that causes the erratic ejection. Not the extractor. Without Failure to Ejects your extractor is more than likely fine.

I should mention, Glock makes you pay for shipping. It must be overnighted so about 80 bucks to ship it to them.

Both the extractor and ejector are responsible for the erratic ejection, mine was solved with Apex Tactical 's prototype extractor. I also have one of their first production extractors which I have not tested yet, they are available to the public but are back ordered until the next two batches are completed soon.

All the info you need on the 4th Gen 9mm Glock extraction and ejection.

My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.

It is both a ejector and extractor issue. What Glock will do the first time you send it back is change the ejector...that may cure it. If it doesn't, it will be worst...and Glock won't change the extractor, because it would cost too much to have to redesign the MIM part.

I have a friend who was shooting a Gen3 fine for the first 1k rounds. Around 1.1k rounds it started pelting him with a couple of rounds every couple of magazines. It went back to the factory and they replaced the ejector. When it came back it was giving him at least one to the face on every mag. It is now on it's second trip to the factory.

Apex Tactical sold out their extractor in a few hours and a second batch in being produced. It is working as expected on the Gen4 9mms, but they are still tweaking it for the Gen3. They aren't inexpensive, but if you have a Gen4 9mm that has BTF issues, it is an available fix

9mmepiphany, is Glock paying for shipping to them the 2nd time?

He said they sent him a FedEx shipping tag. He said he'd sell it before he'd pay shipping for warranty work.

That's my feeling too. Otherwise you'll get tired of paying for shipping before they get tire of not fixing it.

I have a Gen2 G19 and have nothing to complain about. I had it updated at a recent GSSF match and they replaced most of the internal parts. I was worried...wasn't about to let them take my extractor
