How much ammo do you go through?

I realized today I bought 9mm for $200 per 1000. I go through at least 200 rounds per range trip. That's $40 per range trip + cost of my membership. Considering I go once a week at least, that's a pretty big expenditure now that I think about it.

It's even worse when I shoot my Sig which is .40sw. Yikes!

It all depends on what I'm bringing to the range and if I am going myself or meeting with friends.

Usually I fire anyway between 150 to 300 rounds per trip. Lately I've been shooting 200 to 350 rounds per trip. I just bought a new XD-9 Service and I'm still breaking it in and I 've been taking new shooters with me (yes, I converting non-gun people over to the dark side) and I bring the guns and ammo.

Lately, my only range trips are when I go to participate in a local IPSC / USPSA match. That's about 150 rounds.

I usually go through 200 rounds of 9mm and 100-200 rounds of either .40S&W or .45ACP (depending on which pistols I decided to bring that day).

Usually I go through about 250 rounds of ammo. Unless Im shooting my .45 then I go through about 100-150. However, this last saturday I took a trip to Burro Canyon outdoor range (I only go about 4-5 times a year) and I spent almost $150.00 in ammo. I went through 250 rounds of .40S&W and 250 rounds of .45ACP. Also, while up there my buddy bought another bag of .45 reloads. My brother took his 2 AR15s and dropped some more money on that too. Like I said though, we dont go up there too often, too expensive.

Back in the days I was shooting USPSA and steel I used to go 2 to 3 times of club matches a week. It's about 150 to 250 rounds per match and then I would still burn about 100 rounds for practice. That's about 500 rounds per week and my progressive reloaders were keeping up with me. I don't buy factory stuff unless it's for my SD/HD guns. Now a days I don't shoot much except for 22lr, but I will be jumping back into USPSA style of shooting once I get my gear in place, maybe toned down a little.

When I realized how much ammo I was going through each month I started reloading! I can not believe how expensive bullets are now

I generally warm up with .22's...

I usually shoot 200-250 rounds of rimfire and 50-200 rounds of centerfire. I live close to my range (Sharpshooter) so I can even shoot just rimfire and feel OK about the outing... I really love rimfire, you can shoot a lot just for the love of shooting without brutalizing the wallet... Shooting my S&W Model 41 relaxes me.

What can I say? When I go to the range I make it worth the trip.

Typically quite a bit of 22 + a few dozen rounds of another caliber/calibers.

A normal range trip for me is either 50-100 shotgun shells, or 100-150 pistol rounds (.45 ACP or Colt). Reloading *really* helps with the .45s. If you can use lead bullets instead of FMJ, you can shoot very cheap. I bought a bunch of Oregon Trail bullets on sale a while back and average about 8 cents per cartridge with them. I think they are closer to 10 cents per now, at full retail. With this stock, I'm shooting for around $4.00 for a box of 50 by reloading. Compare that to $15-20 a box for factory .45acp and usually over $30.00 for .45 Colt. This, of course, does not count my time, which seems to be in short supply these days.

A basic reloading setup will cost you about as much as three or four boxes of factory .45acp ammo, if I remember correctly. With 9mm, the savings are not so much.

i average 100rds per caliber per trip. usually 2, no more than 3 calibers get brought along. but, having been recently laid off, i've carved my collection down to .357 mag for home defense and haven't been back to the range for recreational shooting yet.

                            100 minumum 300 tops for 9mm and .40, 200 avg to 400 of .357
Good you don't ask about .22 because I can't count that high.

We shoot at an indoor range now so stay about an hour (range charges per hour). For this time, we each go through a houndred rounds (200 total). When Fish Canyon was around, we would spend a couple of hours there easy but still shot only about 150 each.
