Well i never got around to posting pix of my 4006 apparrantly so here it is:







And heres the first two rounds i shot when drawing from a holster at 20-25 yards:



This is my absolute favorite handgun that i have shot. Its weight dramatically reduces recoil and is a joy to shoot. Not only is this my favorite handgun for how it shoots but because of its serial. It was made the first year of production in 1990 and is the lowest serial firearm i have. I plan on using this for wualifying for my armed guard certifications. Next time i get out to a range ill post some actual groupings.

Now you need to get a Kel-Tec Sub-2000 to match. One of the models takes S&W 4006 magazines.

Wow i had no idea!!! That would be awsome to have a sub 2000. I should definatly look into it. That would be a nice little bug out companion if that was all i could grab.

S&W will sometimes make a limited run of 3rd Gens for LE orders. Or at least they used to.

Metal frames and a hammer. As a proper handgun SHOULD be.

It might be fun to shoot but 8+ hours with that thing in a holster and it might not be so much fun. If you get to sit down and rest then it's fine. But all that time on your feet and those pistols loose their appeal.

You probably carry in a comfortable holster, in a duty rig on a duty belt with a baton+mace+handcuffs+extra mags+flashlight and whatever else you might need to carry all that weight adds up.

Serpa holster. It carries nicely in one. I usually just stash the extra mg inder my belt or in 9mm surplus army mag pouches. Those things are great.

biggest complaint about the 4006 is that it only holds 11 rounds.

which is fine for those who must comply with hi-cap mag laws

but for LEO types I fail to see why they use this still (cough cough CHP)

Same reason so many still use the 4506, which only holds 8.


It's a great gun!


On another note, the 10mm interests me a lot as a cartridge, but I'd only want to shoot it in a Bren Ten or a 1006. I love the Glock platform, but there's something about the cartridge that makes me only desire it in those platforms.

I'm no hater (i have a 5903tsw, which is similar) but i can see it does have some drawbacks (weight, slide-mounted safety, limited round count)

it's a great shooter no doubt.
