    God I suck already!

Finally for my a** back out to the range tonight. My membership expired a few weeks ago and I havnt gone in a good 2 months (really long time for me I was going 3 times a week). But I made my self to due to my buddy working and my GP/Glock getting dusty...

And god am I a horrid shot now... Trigger pull was horrid and my flinch was almost catistrogic! I literally think I hit the ground once with the 357 that's how bad and I hit the target stand once at 25 yards

Thought I was better than that but it just shows no matter how much you practice shooting is a perishable... So keep up the practice fellas!

One good thing I about the trip was the GP shot great butthe main spring was a tad loose and had a few FTF... Buddy fixed that right up and works fine.. Glad I found this out because this was my night stand gun a few nights already.. Would have been in for a surprise.

Time to start reloading so you can shoot A LOT......that way you won't have as big of a drop off from gaps in shooting. I personally didn't get good at shooting until I started reloading so I was able to go to the range and shoot 150 rounds of 45 and not even think about it. With that said, some days it just doesn't go my way lol.

I was wondering why he wouldn't be shooting regularly like he said he used to. I was thinking maybe cost of firearms purchases might be a factor.

Start at 7 yards and work your way back. 25 yards is a long, long way for a handgun - especially when something like 90%+ of self defense shootings are at 7 yards or closer

I also took two months off due to home repairs and my son's 3rd Bday party. I'm going to hit the indoor range tonight, and I expect Ill be in about the same shape as you. I've found I shoot noticeably worse after taking only two weeks off. I wish I could go three times a week, but life tends to get in the way.

This, or shoot a mag slowly and deliberately at 2-3 yds (really) to regain your confidence and skill. There is no glory in those long shots if your purpose is personal/home defense, in my opinion.

Increase distance by very small increments, like one step back, once you're punching bullseyes consistently at each distance, a mag at a time; worked for me . . .

For me, I will go through long periods of not getting to the range due to work schedule and other commitments. It isn't always a money issue that causes down time.

you used to go 3 times a week?? i consider myself lucky when i get to go to the indoor range once a month! dont even get me started on when i get to shoot my rifles, which can be as bad as once every 3 months. as a parent of two young kids, there simply isnt any time to go...

happy you got back to the swing of things! heres hoping we all get some more range time soon!

Maybe dry fire once a week? Just to keep in form.

When i have a tough day shooting i like to follow up with some range time using a .22, it really seems to get my trigger control back quickly and my transition back to more potent cartridges easier and faster
