Generally, you can get pretty good at anything if you practice enough!

Lefty here, always use my middle finger. Very natural feeling.

Only with the USP. I don't have the strength to fight the stock mag release on my 1911, while the release on the Beretta is way too far back to get any good purchase.

When I owned a USP and P99 I did. I even switched the mag release to be on the right side of the gun on my SP2022 when I had all these guns.

Now that I don't have any of them, its all thumb.

I'm right handed, but if I'm screwing around shooting lefty then i will hit the mag release with my left middle finger. I don't think i could reach with left index.

I can use my middle finger (right hand only, normal left side release) but generally just use my thumb. I have tried reversing it, but as not all pistols can be switched, went with normal setups as to be the same for all. Ymmv

Yes, it's far easier to train your right-hand trigger finger to use the ambi-mag release on my HKs and Walther/S&W SW99 45 (P99) and PPS 9mm---once you become used to it, you don't want to go back to the 1911/P35 button.

Swicthed my M&P to the right side, use my index finger. It works great.

On my Glock 21 I use the middle finger on my shooting hand. Don't have to break grip, has been reliable enough for me.

Swapped the release on my P226 for index drop. Damn stubby thumbs...

I use my middle finger to drop mags on most of my pistols.

I use middle finger with USP paddle... haven't really thought about switching the M&P to ambi side, but I like the idea - I think I'll try it.
