Nice, it's really tough to beat a 1911. But, try other 1911s too. Lets just say my Colt hasn't seen the light of day in.... many years.

Maybe my hands were made wrong, but the 1911 grip isn't so natural for me. Maybe with a little training, it could be better but I have to concentrate a lot more to bring the front site up. It points a lot lower for me than some other pistols.

Before I had ever owned one I had only handled them. In their stock form I find the grips to be far to narrow for my hands. I would have to qualify my comfort with the pistol with the addition of aftermarket grips.

I know what you're saying about grip angle though. I have a similar issue with glocks. They just don't feel right in my hand.

The Colt haters make me laugh sometimes. Colt makes fine firearms, and their recent series 80 are some great guns - very well made, forged frames, etc.

Have to say I love my 1911s over my other pistols. (although my overall favorite handgun is still my S&W 686 P+ .357mag)

And although my 9mm 1911 is easier to shoot... I'll still take the 45ACP!

I've put Hogue rubber combat grips on a couple my 1911s and that really makes the gun sit nice and firm in my hand. (Might also be a nice addition for those who feel the 1911's standard grip is too narrow)

I just picked up a set of hardwood/combat grips for one of my 1911s, but it looks like I am going to have to fiddle with them a bit to make the fit properly.

Good 'ole JMB knew what he was doing. There's a reason the 1911 has been around for a hundred years and why numerous gun makers base their design on Browning's action. The 1911 is just that good. It's easy to shoot accurately.
