Hope you did your research. Just shot one for the first time today, just felt awkward to me. Lol.
Yes typically you will need about 1k rounds give or take for best break in results. Use factory ammo to break it in. After about the thousand re loads should be ok after that, but factory would be better consistencies.
Yes break in practicing your aiming. Get multiple mags and put 1-5 rounds in each, and practice reloading drills. Most ranges won't let you draw
From the hip, but you can practice raising and shooting.
Just get used to your gun in n out before you go competing. Learn your technique and how your comfortable aiming. Practice makes perfect
