Most comfortable 1911 thumb safety?

Alright, so after shooting and holding my 1911 all day I found that I do not like my ambi safety. I'm running the factory Colt ambi safety, and would like to switch it out to something more comfortable.

I shoot Iso with a thumbs forward grip. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I remember the Ed Brown's are thin (I remember a thread on here), it's only 1/2 as thin as the plunger spring, so it looks odd...might want to stay away from that one.

All feel the same to me, normal or extended (I just have short Colt and extended Springfield)...so good luck.

SV Infinity Extended Thumb safety or 1911 Speed Shop custom thumb safety...

I like the lever on the Ed Brown thumb safety because the compound (outward cant and mid-lever kink) angles fit my thumb joint perfectly. My only reservation is the thinness of the thumb safety plate in relation to the plunger.

It isn't a concern when shooting because the plunger is blocked by the joint between the plate and the lever, but when engaged, the section retaining the plunger is pretty minimal

I have an XSE and I don't like the ambi safety either because it digs into my hand but I have never really been a fan of ambi safeties. I have this Ed Brown one on my 38 super and I am going to add a stainless one to my new XSE today hopefully. I really like the fact that my thumb can rest on it while shooting since.

I've used Ed Brown and Wilson safeties with good results.

I put an Ed Brown tactical ambi on my RIA 1911 (i'm a lefty) and I can tell you that it is not very comfortable on the right side at all. In fact it cuts into the web of my left hand a little bit. I hit the edge of right panel with a file to make a small bevel and that helps a bit.

Also, yeah I noticed the left side is a bit thin in relative to the plunger too. Overall I am happy with it though.

I use this same EB thumb safety as well. I think it is a nice compromise between a standard safety and those god awful gas pedals which, although awesome on a race gun, are damn ugly on anything else.

I normally shoot Glock, and you're correct in that it's more comfortable to shoot longer, however it's not a 1911.

I've used Ed Brown and Wilson safeties with good results.

I think I'll order up an Ed Brown.

I use this same EB thumb safety as well. I think it is a nice compromise between a standard safety and those god awful gas pedals which, although awesome on a race gun, are damn ugly on anything else.

When you combine it with a magwell it really gives you a good grip on the gun. I really like the hammer you have, which one is it?

I think I'll order up an Ed Brown.

The Ed Brown is really nice but the only thing is it's pretty shiny so if you have your gunsmith bead blast it, then it should match the rest of the XSE.

What is uncomfortable about the current safety?

You ARE shooting with your strong hand thumb on top of the safety correct?

I know some people complain the right side (ambi side) will rub the side of the index finger, is this the problem.
