    selling on gunbroker.com

I have a Colt Government .380 that I am thinking of selling . I dont want to put it up on consignment at the local gun store because of how much they take from a sale. I know the sale has to go thru a FFL. The buyer would pay shipping and the FFL of their choosing. My question is can I send the gun to the FFL or do I have to have a FFL do the transfer to the other FFL. Thanks

Why don't you just put it up for sale here? Put your location in the thread. Then when you have a buyer, you both go down and do a Private Party Transaction at your nearest firearms store.

Sorry, forgot to answer your question.

Some FFL's will receive a handgun from a private citizen and some won't. Just depends on their individual policy. According to the ATF a private person can legally send a firearm direct to the buyers FFL. Most of the time you will have to include a copy of your drivers license as well.

You will need to ship the handgun Next Day Air as well. I recommend UPS for this. Include information in the auction that the handgun will be shipped from a Non-FFL and the winning buyer needs to verify with their FFL that they will accept shipment.

Depends on the FFL. I've had FFLs take from non-FFLs thru Gunbroker and then the guys on Grand Ave in SSF refuse to deal with non-FFLs. It's like the transfer fees. One guy wants $100 and 30 minutes away another FFL will do it for $40. Embrace freedom and have the buyer figure out which local FFL he wants to have you send it to. As long as the license is good and you send to the address on it, I think your good to go. There's alot of more knowledgeable people than I on this board but I thought I'd bump your post, so you could get some more input. Good luck, I've always been curious about the Colt .380

I think it depends on the firearm. I spoke with them yesterday and they were willing to receive a long gun from a non-FFL.

I sold a Ruger P345 on gunbroker a while back. The receiving FFL is legally allowed to receive the handgun from a non-licensed person. However, as others have mentioned, you will have to ship it via overnight mail, which will run you (or the buyer) ~$70.

Gunbroker.com provides a lot of resources for the seller, such as this firearms shipping guide and this page to verify that you are shipping the gun to an FFL holder.

One more note. I would personally call the FFL holder that you would be shipping to to verify the transaction, and to request a copy (fax) of their license. When I shipped via UPS, I made sure that I knew all of UPS's regulations and I had a copy of the FFL that it was being shipped to so that UPS could verify that everything was legit (although there is no requirement of show UPS the FFL, it made my shipping experience much smoother).

After all is said and done, it would be MUCH easier for you to just list it here and meet them FTF at a local dealer.
