    Beretta safety selector pin

Second time to the range with my Beretta 92FS. Only about 300 rounds total. I noticed today when I took it out for cleaning that the safety selector pin was about to fall out. I never seen this happened with my Army issued M9. Is this something that happens. Besides tapping it back in place, what else can be done to prevent this from happening again? See pic below

Replace the pin with a new one.

Ok. I'll hit a local armory and see if they can get me one.

with caveat that i ain't no smith, were it mine, and the pin is offering enough resistance that you're unable to push back with your finger, i'd stabilize slide on non-slip surface (perhaps placing towel directlly under slide as well, squirt pin with clp, pull out the trusty ol' rubber mallet, and tap that bad boy back home. if it's so loose that it offers little resistance, i'd call beretta and ask if they'd just mail you a new one. next stop would be brownells. .02. (wish the roll pin holding in the the lanyard loop would'a popped out like that for me...)

Use a couple of new pins, punch them in place and lightly stake the holes top & bottom.

Use a dull screwdriver or staking punch to lightly stake the top roll pin holes. The edges of the holes just need a slight amount of metal staked in place to prevent the pins from working up and out.

Worse thing is the pin sliding down and into the guts of the pistol. Stake the inside holes as well to prevent this. I have seen the pin stick out inside the slide and bind up the movement of the safety/decocker lever.
