    Springfield XD Sub-Compact impressions (Good)

A good friend of mine recently acquired an XD sub compact in .40 for his CCW permit. We went out to the range to test it out. I was really impressed by the ergos of the grip. I have always owned Glocks so when I shot the XD I was impressed. I shot as if I had had years of experience with it. My groupings were pretty decent for never having shot this gun. As soon as I had finished my first mag I felt really confident in my ability. I shot 200 rounds through it doing double taps and quick mag dumps to see how fast I could reacquire my target. I own a Glock 23 and its great but I feel as if for some reason the recoil is easier to control with the XD. I have heard its due to the high bore axis. By no means am I saying that Glocks are not great but I had made the mistake of being brand myopic and never giving other pistols a try. I currently CCW with a Glock 26 and Glock 19 but would not mine adding a another more powerful caliber to the list. The Springfield XD is a pistol I would seriously consider due the the ergonomics, price point and reliability.

For me, ergonomics wise, all other pistols>glock.

I had the xd9sc and eventhough its ugly and top heavy, its uber reliable and as accurate, if not more than the big boys!

high bore axis = harder to control recoil. You probably controlled it better because of the grip

I have a sub-compact XD in 9mm and its one of my favorite pistols.

The ergo is very much to my liking, and I preform very well with it. My brother has a G26 and the XD just works better for me.

Yeah, but its a Glock.. nothing compares to it.

I'm not a fan boy of XD, but I have it because it does fit and shoot much better then the other poly guns. The next to it for me is the M&P then Glock then everything else...all great guns though.

As much as I love my XDs... The M&P has really grown on my over the past year after a few friends got them...

The .45 ACP M&P actually feels better to me than the XD, but the 9mm and .40 XD feel better to me than the M&Ps...

I’m still hesitant to get one, only because I have so many rounds down range with my XD...

The dual recoil spring in the XDsc takes the .40sw pretty well.
There are some minor draw backs on the XD, but great gun as is.
I do like the glock's trigger overall more than the XD.

LoL again at the high bore axis.
Dual weld a glock and XD, it's about 2-3mm taller, I guess that is a huge for some people.

I shot a sub compact 9mm xd during a certain stage in idpa and I thought it was a neat little gun. $450 otd isn't that bad either.......although I need a new gun like I need a hole in my head lol.

I have been carrying a XD9sc for almost four years now and it is great. Very accurate, reliable, light weight and concealable. I recommend the Pearce magazine extensions.
