Nice. I have done that event twice and had a ball both times. I missed it on Saturday, but I hope to do the next event. What class are shooting in? I normally do the Limited 10.

Another fun event that is great for competition noobs like me is the Steel Challenge. I started with that about a year ago and have had a lot of fun.
If I had to describe myself in one word it would be "bad at following directions"

Take your time ask questions. Ask your Range Safety Officers for help.

I used to shoot action pistol years ago as a kid. Shot my dads G22 and had a blast (I was probably 16?) Concentrating primarily on safety and accuracy my times were always slower than most of the group but I still scored well. I would like to get back into it myself.

Glad to hear it was a good time and an improvement!

Now, I don't come with a skill set. I like guns and can shoot them, but I am not trained by either military or law enforcement. Also, although I know that I am getting better, sometimes I can't shoot ****.
Do yourself a favor and take a handgun class.
It will help you shoot better, shoot safer and feel more confident.
Im sure you can get into one for as low as $50 or so. If you want to do that and still have fun, make sure the class includes live firing.
I have taken 2 classes in my area. I shot about 250-300 rds each class
The $80 per class have been the best spent dollars since i bought my first handgun.

Props to you Bill I Am. It takes a real man to admit he has faults, AND get right to working on it. Keep up the good work, and one day your friends will be coming to YOU for advice.

It's hard to convince new shooters to forget about time, just focus on shooting the stage as clean as possible and walk through the positions. You finish the stage with the same time, and you were not going to win the match your first time anyhow.

Smooth and clean is fast, hurried shooting is slow and full of mistakes.

Do yourself a favor and go shoot a few action pistol matches, it will be the best $20-40 you spent. It is one of the best ways to practice advanced gunhandling, and there is much to be learned from the people that attend.

and it's the most fun you can have with your handgun.
