Glock 23 w/ light attached malfunctions?

I have heard that some people have experienced malfunctions with lights attached to Glock 23s. What are the common malfunctions? Is there any way to correct the problem? Thank you for your assistance. As always, all advice is greatly appreciated

The report I found was with Streamlight TLR. I personally ran +5k on my G23 with a TRL 2 attached with no malfunctions. I will advice borrow the light you want and run it for a test. I personally do not over tight my TLR. I Also run and Insight Tec on my back up G23 with 0 MF.

Yes. Get the x300 not the TLRs.

Partial fud. The problem wasn't the light it was people over tightening the mount knob that threw off the " harmonics" or for lack of better term flexibility of the weapon. Don't let it stray you away. I've ran the G23C/TLR-1 combo for many a year and thousands of rounds with no issues. The X series lights are great as well but I'm not into paying 150+ more for the name IMO.

OP, you may want to check out Insights also. I have not used it but heard lots of good things. Cost less than TLR.

Insight M3 LED looks, fits, and functions better than any light on a G19/23 hands down

If you do choose to go with the M3, make sure it's the LED version. The ~$60 dollar version is xenon bulb technology which orangish, less bright, and has to be replaced every so often ($$$). The LED version is around 100 bucks, but well worth the extra money.

BTW, no malfunctions using the M3 on my g19.. I remember hearing about malfunction issues for the .40 but that was the full size (g22). On my 19 the light actually fixed my erratic ejections......it went from brass to the face all the time to brass to the face never. Don't ask me how/why, but I ain't complaining.

You shouldn't have a problem, it was mostly limited to the full sized G22...also didn't affect the 9mm guns.

It isn't light specific as it isn't caused by the light per se. It is caused by attaching anything to the rail which limits the flex of the frame in recoil. The G22 needs that built-in flex to properly feed

I got from Wal-Mart, its cheap but it works..

Its 190 lumens and waterproof

The only thing I don't like is the steel pin that holds the spring in place. It can be knocked loose one way or the other, a little loc-tight and its fine. And I don't like the idea of metal things on my rail "I baby the crap out of my handguns" but it fits very flush.

I plan on getting a better light soon

It's not a majority of G22's or 23's. It's a small issue that still make it out and dont work properly with a light, but I'd recommend trying the light on the gun. Firstly for function and second because at-least a few range visits with it on can get you used to the handling of it.

Streamlight's literature goes more in depth but even the magazine springs (extra strength mind you) didnt fix the issue. I experienced this and sold it, and as streamlight put it, some fixed it and some didn't.

IMO your more than likely with a good model but try it first.

If I didnt have to SSE I'd have a Gen 4 G22 simply because I have no heard one report of WML malfunctions occurring, which is fantastic. Local Sonoma County Deputy's I talked to said they liked the new texture and haven't had any issues with WML but a minority of them did with Gen 3's.

I occasionally run the TLR-1s on my gen4 glock 19. No issues at all.

My 23 never had functioning issues with a light attached. My 22, however, did. It wouldn't function with an M3, M3X or TLR-1. My G17 and 19, however, run just fine with lights.

My former agency had nothing but problems with light equipped G22s, very few tested would run consistently with lights, but I never heard of any problems with G23s (and being an armorer, I would have!).
