    Missing dot in rear sight!!

Cleaning my gun after a days work at the range, I noticed one of the dots on my rear sight was missing. I guess the cleaner I used was a little to strong for the paint on the sight.

My question is, " Is there a way to paint it back on? Can I just take it into a shop and have them paint it back on? I really dont want to purchase new sights.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any help is appriciated.

White out or model paint and a very small brush.

Have you tried white-out or nail-polish?
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

Will model paint last or will I have to keep repainting it? I think nail polish or model paint will last a little longer than white out. I think something oil base.

get testors enamel (or similar) modeling paint and a sharp toothpick. just lightly dip the toothpick into the paint and dab it in the hole in the sight. the paint should level itself out.

I don't know how long it will last. Maybe every other cleanning. Maybe longer.

But painting/filling should be easy task. Before painting make sure it is clean, use brake cleaner or alcohol to ensure grease/oil free surface.

There are usually small dimples where the dots used to be. It is more like drip/touch filling. Shouldn't take long.

                    Piggy backing off Mason1800's question.
Is there any recommended paint to replace faded white dots to make it like a poor man's TruGlow or Tritium sight?
I know Cabela's sell "glow in the dark sight paint", but I don't think it'll work very well in the daylight and I'm not even sure it'll work in the dark...lol.

Another vote for white out. My XD loves the stuff.

I take a small drill bit and twist it in the hole where the dot is to remove the old paint. I then use testors model paint with a tooth pick. If you get a little too much paint you can just wipe the sight with a cloth. Works great and it lasts. Mark

                          Testors model paint.

I tried white out and it didn't hold up as well..... especially when wet.
