Do you know why??? All new guns must have BOTH a magazine disconnect and a chamber loaded indicator. When is the last time you saw a 1911 gun with a magazine disco? NEVER. It isn't Kimber's fault, it is the current law that prevents it. It would take a pretty big redesign to get a 1911 with a mag disco.

I was hoping that (by some crazy stretch of my overactive imagination) that the covert, being a 1911, would be listed due to its functional similarity to weapons already on the list. My limited understanding of the subject led me to believe that this would, however unlikely, be possible. Guess not?

I'm just speechless on the whole 1911 vs safe handgun list...

Fortunately Kimber came out with the Ultra CDP II before all this crap hit the fan.

I have one and love it!!! I put a set of Hogue grips on it and it just snuggles in and makes itself at home in your hand.
