    Stippling (tip) question

So I found this picture on another forum... does anyone know what kind of tip that is? I've tried the flatten and checker a screw method but the texture just doesn't come out right... I'm really looking to have that pattern that Salient Arms uses.

I asked a similar question on several forums a couple months ago. I looked all over the place for that tip, but I came up with nothing. I'm guessing that one is a custom made piece. If you had access to the right tools, it would be fairly easy to machine a brass bolt or rod & checker the tip like that. I'm working on getting a few made for myself right now, we'll see how they turn out.

I think I stumbled across your thread then... how much would you sell a tip to me for?

I'll let you know when I actually get them in hand, it may be a while.

I actually got the inspiration from my Glockworx stippled USPSA Limited G20SF. The Glockworx gunsmith that does their grip work goes by "Craigy" on here, and he does crazy good work. His stippling looks better than Salient's IMHO. Glockworx has a quick turnaround, so if you're thinking about sending it out, don't think twice about sending it to Glockworx.

It seems like you could checker a brass rod or brass screw head with checkering files

Buy some sheets of scrap kydex to practice on....

I like the DIY of stipling, but I am terrified of destroying a frame

Oh thanks meathead! I'll see if he can help me out, my friend had his 19 done by Glockworx but he got the silica carbide grip... or at least I think it was Glockworx.

I've done many guns already with just a small tip hermosa, I'm pretty confident but yeah there is always that "OK here we go... hope I don't mess this one up" before.

would this work? maybe turn it down so it would fit in the heat gun and shorten it a bit.
