    RIA .45 tactical msh questions

I just bought a new RIA tactical, non railed version. I swapped out the mainspring housing for a Fusion chainlink style temporarily and noted that there is a .062 gap between the bottom of the grip safety and the top of the MSH. I then noted that the plastic RIA MSH is taller than the Fusion MSH. Are RIA beaver tail grip safeties shorter than spec? I had ordered a S&A arched Magwell and now wonder if it will have a gap between the grip safety and the top of the MSH too. Anyone installed a S&A MSH or Magwell on an RIA? What were your results?
A good rifle build isn't cheap, but a bad one can be expensive!

Not a big deal, but it does look larger then normal... I'm running a aftermarket MSH too with stock BT, no issue. My OEM BT is spec the same as my Ed Brown.

Fusion may be under-sizing their MSH to make sure it clears aftermarket BT. As long as it holds the BT tabs... it's really a none issue.

How does the grip safety seat now with the mainspring housing gap?

Here is my tac. with S&A, there was no fitting needed.
Sorry, no calipers, but I can put 4 post-it notes in the gap, a 5th piece will push the BT in.

With the Fusion msh installed it function tested just fine. It was just the large gap between the bottom of the grip safety and the top of the msh that annoyed me.

Was your S&A a magwell? If so, was there a gap between the bottom of the frame and the magwell?

I have no comment on your question, I came here because you mentioned RIA MSH and I wanted to comment on the fact that the plast MSH on the RIA Tactical is basically a cheese grater along the edges! The plastic is SHARP! My MSH wears masking tape! LOL! (THough a nice fellow CGer sent me an unused metal one I will swap it with).

Gee.... my MSH must be made of one of those new miracle plastics cause a magnet sticks right to it.

No cheese grating either, but then, I have kinda manish hands.

IIRC there was a discussion awhile back. Some of the RIA MSH were plastic, some were metal.

Yes, S&A magwell version, and yes there is a small gap, about 1/2 sheet of paper thin.

I think you are suppose to fit (bend) the the magwell to line up with your frame.
You can not even see it with the grips on, so I never bothered to.

                      ...

Oh, my tac. came with plastic msh as well.
