    DOJ Safe Handguns 1 Question

So I was checking out the list of DOJ safe handguns and I noticed that they have Exp dates to the right of the list, what does that date mean?

From the sticky in this forum:

The Roster shows an expiration date; what is that for?

That means it is time for the manufacturer/importer to pay the annual $200 fee for that model. If the fee is paid, the handgun stays on the Roster. Nothing else has to happen. If the fee is paid, no new requirements apply after an expiration date.

It's when it expires? The manufacturer has to renew or they can't sell the gun in cali through ffl without other loopholes involved.

In a retail sense, yes. Unless you are exempt from the roster.

            Correct, sorta

My understanding is that you could buy an off roster handgun through a private party transfer of someone that owned it legally (ie: a LEO). The other option is a single shot exemption (see sticky links in this forum for more details).

yep, what machx0r said. ppt or sse is the only ways to get an off roster gun legally.

I think the policticins hope is tht they will all soon expire and not be renewed, thus banning most of the importation of handguns into the state

Would be Wishful thinking on they're part , the manufacturers spend lots-o-money to keep the firearms on the roster . Not to mention how the loss of revenue would further impact our wonderful economy.

so in other words its not about safety at all, they pay the fee and there gun is on the roster, they don't pay the fee they don't get there gun an the roster, simple enough lol

Somehow if the money is not paid a pistol becomes unsafe to sell. I hate Cali
