    First Pistol Match Win!

They say you'll always remember your first.

I've only shot 3 rimfire silhouette matches, and today I won 1st place in optics and 2nd place in irons!

Totally new at this, but it's the most shooting fun I've ever had. (Well, except for that one time with an M2 Carbine!)

I didn't shoot very well overall considering I missed way too many pig targets, the largest ones. Go figure.

Also made some embarrassing rookie mistakes like starting a stage with an empty mag.

Very encouraging and can't wait to get back to the range and practice.

The Model 41 is a dreamboat of a shooter.

(With a little help from Kerry, the match director, who doesn't enter his scores for prizes.)

    Nice shootin' Doc!

    Congrats on your win.

I'm going to be shootin' my first action pistol match tomorrow...not expecting a win, just looking forward to getting out and there and mixing it up.

    Cheers

Y'all trust me on this one: rimfire matches are fun!

And range practice is amazingly inexpensive compared to centerfire.

              Do eet!!

Congrats on the win! I have ALWAYS wanted a Model 41. My friends dad had one while growing up. It was the first firearm I ever shot. I hardly ever see them for sale for a decent price. I may just have to except that and just buy one.

If you are vigilant you can buy a nice one in the $700-$800 range.

And it's a "lifetime keeper" kind of gun and very seldom needs any tuning or additional expense.

I just spent $400 out of pocket and sold a gun I didn't shoot much to kind of "justify" the expense.

                  You know how that works.

Doc540 well done! In your pics? You have both barrel lengths? Did you buy them together? And which length do you prefer. Sorry looking for my next purchase. So many choices so little time.

                            No problem

Both barrels are the 5" heavy model.

One just had a rail for optics, so I searched around and bought another matching barrel without a rail (to shoot iron sights class).

                            Came like this (1980 model)
