    Browning hi power ammo

what do you shoot through yours?

i have only shot mine twice and was using remington UMC which works flawlessly in my xd9mm but when i shot it through my HP every few rounds wouldnt send the slide far enough back to eject and chamber a new round. hoping its the ammo because i wouldnt know what part it was to replace.

    any ideas?

Have you tried any other ammunition in your High Power? If you haven't then you have no idea whether it is the ammo or the gun. Try different ammo, if it "isn't powerful enough to cycle the slide" then perhaps your gun has a burr or some other problem (spring hanging up or something) that is causing it not to cycle properly.

This post seems premature if you have only tried one type of ammunition and are concluding that it must be an ammo issue with your Browning.

There's not much info. Is your Browning properly lubricated?

I shoot whatever is super cheap - normally WWB from Wally World.

I've never had a jam or misfeed - I don't keep it sparkly clean either, but I do keep it lubed and generally clean.

        Great pistol.

Any other brand besides the one you used should give you an idea. Try WWB at walmart. Or any other inexpensive 9mm ammo. If you try two or three other brands and you still have the same problem it is the gun and not the ammo.

Is your HP slide noticeably harder to pull back than the XD? If so, the recoil spring may be too stiff.

i have a hi-power and it hates remington umc ammo. it's not the gun, it's the ammo in this case. i think it's because their ammo is noticeably shorter than other manufactures. i've used mostly fiocchi and winchester ammo since i've figured this out and have had no problems since the switch.

thanks, WWB did the trick for me!

                    another question:
anyone have a link to a write up on how to disconnect the feature that wont let me pull the trigger with no magazine in the pistol?? i hate having to finger the lever in there when i dont have a mag in it.

                    thanks

(sorry for th lack of technical terms )

I use reloads and I have put 12,000+ rounds through mine. I have only replaced the recoil spring. This gun has only jammed a couple of times due to magazine failure. The high power is the only way to go.

                        trigger job

Get a trigger job by a gunsmith . Do not try this yourself. Removing the mag safty is part a a trigger job on a HP. Do this And you'l be pleased with a better trigger & the gun will shoot with no mag & youc release the trigger when press checking & cleaning . The mian reson I hated the mag safty was you can't dry fire or press check. The better trigger was a bonus.
