I just made a bid for the Springfield 1911 Loaded with Night Sights (PX9109LP) and the dealer told me that pistol does not appear on the CA DOJ list of approved firearms? Is this true? I thought only hi-cap 1911s were not cal legal.

PX9109LP cal legal?
The Model 610 was classified as the XM177[3] but adopted by the Air Force as the GAU-5/A Submachine Gun (GAU = Gun, Aircraft, Unit.) The Army purchased 2,815 Model 609 CAR-15 Commandos on June 28, 1966, which were officially designated Submachine Gun, 5.56 mm, XM177E1. - WikipediaTags: None -
I guess its my turn...
If the dealer is correct, the CA DOJ has a list which lists what pistols and model's are legal for sale. Your assumption that it applied to 1911 hicaps is incorrect.
Please note the above list does not apply when doing a PPT.
ps. "Highcap 1911?...." & added an "If"Last edited by edsel6502; 02-05-2008, 9:23 PM.sigpic

The PX9109L (ambi safety) / Carbon Steel is on the list.
The only difference in the PX9109L and PX9109LP is that the P indicates the "Package" with mags and mag pouch. The gun is a PX9109L, and on the list. if the FFL doesn't know this, they don't see many Springfield's. This has been a question for awhile.
Maybe check around for a better/more informed FFL.Disenfranchised NRA Benefactor Life Member.

PX9109LP is on the certified list.. "PX9109L (ambi safety) / Carbon Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 2/8/2009"
IIRC, The "P" is for the package of goodies that SA is shipping 1911's with (holster, mag pouch, etc)
For example, the model number on the box of my 1911 is PX9105MLP.. on the roster it's listed as.. "PX9105ML / Carbon Steel Pistol 5.0" .45 ACP 10/25/2008"sigpicComment
