    Dirty ammo and trigger assemblies

I shot some Tulammo out of my XD-45 and noticed that the top 1/3 of my magazines was filthy after the range session. Now, regardless of how or why this happened (some people say the ammo is dirty, others say that steel casings do not expand when fired like brass ones do, therefore allowing more powder 'blowback' into the weapon), there is a real issue to be addressed.

It was not a big deal to wipe off the tops of my magazines; however, the trigger assembly is something different entirely. With a toothbrush I can loosen grip from the tops of the components of the internal trigger, safety, and firing pin components, then blow stuff out with some compressed air and such, but I know I am only getting so deep with these methods.

Are there/would there be any long-term effects on the internals of my weapon from using this type of ammo?

Just gunk build up. I generally use Powder Blast on the internal areas of my XD and CZ's, works well. But I also do the occasional full strip and cleaning of my CZ, the XD works no matter what. "Combat" or duty guns are made pretty loose, so a little gunk wont mess with it. The XD ( and any striker fired pistol ) weakness is lube/gunk build up in the firing pin channel. When I was shooting a lot, I would take that out every couple months, deep clean the channel and COMPLETELY dry it out, and reassemble.

Side note, the longer I own/shoot my XD, the less lube I use on it. It really doesnt need much, and all it does is promote gunk build up. Most parts I put a drop on it, then wipe off. The small amount left works fine.

Out of curiosity, did you use a lot of lube in your xd? Oil or grease? As stated it does attract grime and a little goes a long way on those guns.

Personally, I keep all my firearms very clean at all times, but that buildup won't hurt anything, unless there's something wrong with yor pistol.

      WTB used AK MFER.

I was thinking the same thing
