    First 1911! (kimber)

Just got back from my lgs and finally bought my first 1911. Went with a kimber custom II. I went into the store wanting to buy a rock island but after holding them both I was sold on the kimber. I'm pretty excited!! Can't wait to get it. Any tips for me? I know good mags are one of the first things that's in my list.

Congrats....good mags, cleaning equipment (if you don't already have that) and buy some 230gr ball ammo to break her in.

Nice choice, I went out today to buy a Custom TLE II but couldn't find one.

Make sure you have some files on hand to fit it in too.

Good Choice on the Kimber, you will have a lot of fun. My first 1911 is my Kimber TLE II. 550 Rounds in, no hick-ups, I love it. Currently saving up for my 2nd 1911 soon!

I use the stock kimber mag, and currently/mostly use Chip McCormick power mags 8rds. Works flawlessly at the moment. In the future, I am looking into Wilson Combat and Tripp magazines.

It's 500Rds for break-in, so buy 230gr ammo and enjoy that sweet trigger. Also remember bulk walmart ammo is usually weak target ammo. So don't be surprised if you get a FTF "Failure to feed" with cheap ammo it's bound to happen once in a blue moon.

Anyone know who makes these grips? In black? I've seen them posted before but I can't seem to find the name!

If for some reason it don't shoot right, then post back here. Mines had a tight extractor and wouldn't got to battery completely. The good folks here helped me figure it out and it turned out I just needed to tune the extractor. Now runs flawlessly.
