just picked up my brand new 22/45 yesterday, shot it at the range today with no problems at all. i get home to disassemble and clean it, and the bolt is stiff. the bolt also will not go all the way forward, so i cant pull the trigger to disassemble it. any ideas on what it can be, or what to do? thanks

The dangling arm on your hammer is probably caught up on something. What do you mean by the bolt is stiff? Were you able to disassemble it first, and then you ran into this problem while reassembling?? The bolt stop pin is going to be extremely difficult to remove the first few times. More info! -
Did you mess with the mainspring housing before you realized you had to pull the trigger to disassemble? Perhaps when you went to reinstall the mainspring housing (located at the rear of the grip), the "dangling arm" didn't position itself properly into the mainspring's "cup" (sorry I don't remember the proper names for the parts).Comment

I've been lookin into one and know that if it's not out back exactly right you can have issues.. One huge downside to these everyone complains about..
Look up nutnfancys video and just about the end of his 40 min video he takes it down and shows exactly what to do to put it back together rightComment

i had problems with my mark III hunter but the problem was ME alittle help from youtube and back to the range. great gun the rest of my guns never see the light of day since i got the mark IIIComment

I wouldn't label it as a downside, just something you have to get used to because the mechanics of the MK are different from most guns we are used to. I wouldn't let it deter you from buying one. I do recommend however that as soon as you get it, remove the magazine disconnect. Gets rids of several steps in the disassembly/assembly procedure which can be a PITA. All you need is the MKII hammer bushing. Also it allows the magazines to drop freely when you release the mag, otherwise it'll only drop out of the magwell like a half inch. I'd get it during your 10 day wait so it's ready to go.I've been lookin into one and know that if it's not out back exactly right you can have issues.. This site may help.
Once you get used to it, cleaning a mark 111 is really no big deal.Comment

i was able to remove the dangling arm at first, but i couldnt pull the bolt out, so i reassembled it. i figured i give it another shot, but when i went to pull the bolt to the rear, u can get about half way, then it gets stiff. i can pull the bolt all the way to the rear, but it gets stuck. i have to push it forward. it also looks like the bolt is not goin all the way forward, which i think is why when i pull the trigger, nothing happens. i tried pulling the trigger with and without the mag. nothing. i cannot remove the dangling arm anymore. The dangling arm on your hammer is probably caught up on something. Well, the first rule of 22/45's is never take it apart! .22LR's can run for 20,000-30,000 rounds with just oiling the bolt and pulling a bore snake thru. I put that many on mine running Steel Challenge before taking it down. 2nd rule, get the 2 piece take down pin, been around for decades.just picked up my brand new 22/45 yesterday, shot it at the range today with no problems at all. i get home to disassemble and clean it, and the bolt is stiff. the bolt also will not go all the way forward, so i cant pull the trigger to disassemble it. any ideas on what it can be, or what to do? thanks

Never take it apart is good advice
I watched Moe's video. That is a great source.
I have a mark 2 and after putting the main spring back together the bolt hangs up. At this point I guess I will send it to Ruger for repairs.
I just put about 1000 rounds through it flawlessly while competing in an NRA handgun qualification. I decided I would take it down and clean oil the bolt and mainspring.
Now I can't get it to cycle properly.
